I'm originally from Berlin and I've been doing ExpertlyGerman since 2020. My goal is to help you dive into the German language and culture through my videos and podcast episodes.
On my podcast, I chat in German about various topics such as daily life, work and career, sports and leisure, and more.
In the past, I worked in the finance industry in NYC, London, and Germany. But then, I took a 6-month trip around the world. It was during this sabbatical that I realized how fulfilling it is for me to directly help people feel welcome in Germany by exploring its culture and language.
The best part is, I get to meet amazing people from different countries and backgrounds along the way.

The journey
Started teaching German on the side
While still studying, I began helping people learn German — and realized I loved it.
Worked in NYC, London & Germany
Built a career in finance, working with high-level executives — communicating in German through emails, calls, presentations, and negotiations.

Left finance, traveled for half a year, and realized how fulfilling it is to help people feel welcome in Germany through language and culture.

Went all in — started with 1:1 and group sessions, launched the podcast, and began building a community of German learners worldwide.

My experience
I started helping people learn German on the side back in 2015 while I was studying. However in 2020 I went all in and started ExpertlyGerman with one-to-one and group sessions.
But here's the thing: I'm not your typical German teacher. I have an MSc in Finance, and I used to work with high-level executives in the finance world, communicating with them in German through emails, phone calls, presentations, and negotiations. This unique background sets me apart.
Because of my personal and professional interest in lifelong learning, I can have engaging conversations in German about a wide range of topics. My students come from diverse backgrounds — musicians, lawyers, doctors, business professionals, university professors, and entrepreneurs.
I also understand the challenges of learning another language because my English wasn't that great when I first moved abroad. I'm currently struggling my way through the French language. So, like you, I'm not just a teacher, but also a student.
Through thousands of sessions, I've discovered that many people want to speak German naturally and learn how to communicate effectively in professional settings.
My clients appreciate that I don't get all worked up about every grammar rule. Instead, I focus on motivating them to speak and helping them gain confidence to use German in real-life situations. They often tell me that they feel more self-assured and ready to go out there and speak German after having lessons with me.
